Satellite Imagery Analysis Specialist

Validates and improves satellite-imagery damage assessments and settlement maps for UN Global Pulse’s DISHA project. The specialist applies visual, multispectral and AI-assisted analysis, assures data quality, develops analytical workflows, and supports humanitarian partners with timely, reliable geospatial products.

Department: DISHA Project, East Asia and Pacific Multi-Country Office

• Analyse satellite imagery through visual, multispectral and artificial-intelligence methods
• Acquire and assess imagery, ancillary data and models used in humanitarian analysis
• Validate and correct AI-generated damage assessments and settlement maps
• Produce accurate geospatial data and analytical products after natural disasters
• Develop internal analytical capacity and repeatable DISHA workflows
• Test tools for satellite-imagery analysis, visualisation and reporting
• Build relationships with UN agencies, research institutions and humanitarian stakeholders
• Represent DISHA in technical forums and support proposals, donor engagement and reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in geography, remote sensing, GIS or a related technical field with seven years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in one of those fields with five years of relevant experience
• Relevant experience in geospatial information technology, satellite analysis, data management or a related area
• Fluent English
• Ability to coordinate across East Asian, European and Eastern United States time zones

• Home-based retainer contract until 31 December 2026 with intermittent or as-needed assignments
• Mandatory pre-service courses take about four hours and are unpaid
• A flexible schedule is required for collaboration across multiple time zones
