Project Engineer

Oversees climate-resilient refurbishment of healthcare facilities in Kiribati. The consultant manages assessments, planning, procurement, construction, solar and rainwater systems; integrates WASH and sustainability standards; coordinates government and contractors; assures quality and certifies completed works.

Department: WHO Kiribati Country Liaison Office

• Assess healthcare-facility sites, infrastructure conditions and technical requirements
• Prepare workplans, budgets, procurement requirements and tender documentation
• Review bids and technically evaluate contractors and suppliers
• Supervise construction, solar-system installation and rainwater-harvesting retrofits
• Integrate climate resilience, environmental sustainability, WASH and waste-management standards
• Conduct inspections, risk assessments and quality assurance
• Coordinate Bills of Quantities and implementation with government counterparts
• Prepare progress, inspection and completion reports and certify works

• University degree in civil or structural engineering, construction management, architecture, building-services engineering, environmental health, public health or a related field
• At least two years of relevant experience on government buildings or healthcare facilities, including outer-island construction projects
• Fluent English
• Kiribati nationality and local commuting-area eligibility

• National external consultancy open to Kiribati nationals in the local commuting area
• Full-time onsite assignment based at the WHO Country Liaison Office
• Travel to Kiribati’s outer islands may be required
