Health Emergency Officer

Strengthen health-emergency preparedness and response in Palestine by advising national authorities, assessing risks and gaps, developing multi-hazard plans, mobilizing resources, building International Health Regulations capacities, reinforcing emergency-care systems and coordinating partners.

Department: WHO Representative Office, Palestine

• Coordinate WHO emergency programming with national authorities
• Assess risks, vulnerabilities and preparedness gaps
• Develop multi-hazard health emergency strategies and plans
• Mobilize resources for risk reduction and response
• Build International Health Regulations core capacities
• Represent WHO in inter-agency emergency forums

• Bachelor degree in epidemiology, public health, medicine or a related field
• At least five years of public-health emergency preparedness and response experience
• Experience strengthening country emergency and disaster response capacities
• Experience building health-policy partnerships in developing-country settings
• Expert knowledge of English

• Temporary international professional appointment for twelve months
