Programme Research Intern – Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technology

UNEP offers an unpaid Montreal internship researching refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump technologies, refrigerants, intellectual property, training capacity and servicing tools, analysing technical evidence and helping build a structured internal information portal.

Department: Multilateral Fund Secretariat

• Map refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump technologies, refrigerants and indicative costs
• Assess intellectual-property information for alternative technologies and components
• Compare global and regional technical reports on refrigeration technologies
• Analyse mobile air-conditioning systems, training institutions and training capacity
• Assess digital training aids, servicing equipment and good-practice tools
• Design an internal structured and searchable portal for technical information

• Current enrolment in or completion of a graduate programme, or enrolment in or completion of the final year of a first university degree
• Academic background in mechanical engineering, applied science or a related field emphasising technical research, data analysis and sustainable technologies
• Fluent spoken and written English

• The unpaid internship starts on 1 October 2026 and lasts three to six months
• Interns bear their own travel, visa, accommodation and living costs
