Overview
Provides technical leadership for UNEP’s extreme-heat and sustainable-cooling programmes, advising cities and governments on urban heat analysis, planning, nature-based and passive cooling, policy dialogue, training and funding proposals to strengthen local climate adaptation in India and globally.

Responsibilities
- Design global and country programmes on extreme heat and sustainable urban cooling
- Assess urban heat-island effects and advise cities on adaptation approaches
- Integrate nature-based, passive-cooling and heat-governance measures into plans and guidance
- Provide technical input and training to governments, cities and UNEP teams
- Support policy dialogues and technical assessments on sustainable cooling
- Develop funding proposals and engage technical partners and participating cities
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Engineering, Energy or a related field, or a first university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
- At least fifteen years of relevant experience focused on extreme heat, cooling, urban planning or the environment
- Practical experience in India in policy analysis, city engagement and urban heat-island analysis
- Experience working with ministries, states, cities and international organisations
- Fluency in English
