Job Description

Uses music-based activities to strengthen emotional wellbeing, coping and social connection among Afghan residents of Al-Saliyah Camp. The consultant plans and leads group sessions, identifies participants needing further support and reports on engagement and outcomes to the MHPSS team.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design structured music session plans and activity schedules with the MHPSS team
  • Lead individual and group activities using singing, rhythm, musical games, instruments, listening and songwriting
  • Use music to foster emotional expression, coping, confidence and social connection
  • Identify participants needing additional support and refer concerns to the MHPSS team
  • Provide group counselling and support wider MHPSS activities
  • Record attendance and submit session reports on activities, achievements, challenges and recommendations
  • Protect beneficiary confidentiality and privacy throughout service delivery

Role Requirements

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in music, music education, performing arts, music therapy, psychology, social work or a related field with three years of relevant professional experience
  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument or vocal training
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience working with migrants, young people, adults or other diverse and vulnerable populations and facilitating group activities
  • Field experience in community-based, educational, humanitarian or psychosocial support programmes

Skills to Have

Additional info

  • On-call consultancy with a two-month initial duration
  • Consultant must maintain medical insurance for non-occupational accidents and illness
