Summary of Responsibilities

  • Produce stories, operational updates, photographs, videos and digital content
  • Capture and edit interviews, images and footage under ethical consent standards
  • Develop multimedia products featuring volunteers, communities and response impact
  • Prepare assets and facilitate media visits to operational areas
  • Contribute visibility content to situation reports, donor updates and operational reports
  • Identify field stories and communication opportunities with operational teams
  • Train Congolese Red Cross colleagues in storytelling and social-media content
  • Monitor media, public conversations and rumours and escalate reputational risks

Role Requirements

  • University degree in journalism, communications, public relations, digital communications or a related field
  • At least five years of professional experience in communications, journalism, multimedia production or humanitarian communications
  • Experience in photography, videography and multimedia storytelling
  • Experience producing digital and social-media content
  • Experience working in emergency operations or humanitarian settings
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders in multicultural environments
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French

Desired Criteria

  • Training in photography, videography, multimedia production, digital storytelling or humanitarian or public-health communication
  • Experience with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement or another humanitarian organisation
  • Experience communicating during outbreaks or public-health emergencies
  • Knowledge of eastern DRC
  • Knowledge of another IFRC official language
