Job Description

Provides independent engineering oversight for TVET Care Center renovations under the KURA Nawe Program, inspecting sites and completed works, testing compliance with designs and contracts, identifying defects and risks, and advising UNFPA and partners on corrective action.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review renovation designs, bills of quantities, technical specifications, contracts and progress records
  • Conduct technical assessments and site visits at TVET Care Centers
  • Assess proposed renovation approaches against the facilities' intended functions
  • Inspect works for compliance with approved designs, specifications, contracts and applicable standards
  • Evaluate workmanship, functionality, safety, accessibility and suitability of renovated facilities
  • Document defects, non-compliance, implementation risks and recommended corrective actions
  • Advise UNFPA, SFH, RTB and other stakeholders through technical meetings and feedback
  • Prepare inspection, monitoring and assessment reports with observations, photographs and recommendations

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, structural engineering, architecture, quantity surveying or a related field
  • Strong technical-assessment and analytical capability
  • Excellent report-writing and communication capability
  • Ability to assess compliance between completed works and contractual requirements
  • Ability to work independently and deliver quality outputs within agreed timelines
  • Good spoken and written English
