National Individual Consultancy for a Value Chain and Market Study of Women’s Economic Empowerment Opportunities for SGBV Survivors

The consultant will conduct survivor-centred value-chain and market research across four Mozambican provinces, identifying safe and viable economic opportunities for SGBV survivors and translating evidence on markets, risks, services and partnerships into an actionable empowerment framework.

• Review women’s economic empowerment frameworks, labour-market studies and climate assessments
• Map economic-empowerment partners, training institutions, financial actors and private enterprises
• Conduct survivor-centred participatory research across four target provinces
• Identify value chains and market entry points compatible with survivors’ safety and capabilities
• Analyse gendered, climate-related and geographic barriers to market participation
• Assess the capacity and gaps of economic-empowerment service providers
• Identify partnerships for skills development, entrepreneurship, vocational training and savings groups
• Produce a practical implementation framework and strategic programming recommendations

• Bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of professional experience
• Proven experience in gender-responsive market assessments, value-chain studies, women’s economic empowerment programming or livelihoods
• Expertise in SGBV, gender equality and survivor-sensitive research
• Capability to apply trauma-informed, ethical and do-no-harm research standards

• Consultancy comprises 40 working days over two months
• Domestic travel requires 23 days across Gaza, Manica and Maputo provinces
• UNFPA will arrange provincial travel and provide travel and daily subsistence support
• The consultant must provide their own computer, mobile phone and IT equipment
• Progress is reviewed through bi-weekly calls with the programme team
