Overview

Provides clinical services and operational support at IOM’s Migration Health Assessment Centre in Pretoria. The physician conducts resettlement health assessments, manages tuberculosis and other treatment, maintains clinical data quality, supports quality improvement and helps oversee medical supplies and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Support efficient daily operation of the Migration Health Assessment Centre
  • Conduct medical examinations, imaging, laboratory, vaccination and pre-departure processes
  • Verify migrant and refugee identity and record complete health-assessment information
  • Treat tuberculosis and sexually transmitted infections and support HIV counselling services
  • Oversee tuberculosis case management, immunization and presumptive-treatment programmes
  • Implement quality-control activities, audits and service-specific operating procedures
  • Analyse migration-health data and report performance to the Clinic Head
  • Ensure accurate entry of programme data in MiMOSA and related databases

Requirements

  • Medical qualification from an accredited academic institution
  • Valid licence to practise medicine in South Africa
  • At least four years of continuous clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital setting
  • Recent clinical practice within the previous three years
  • Good knowledge of clinical medicine, patient safety and infection prevention and control
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • English language ability
