Migration Health Nurse

Provides clinical nursing support for IOM's Migration Health Assessment Centre in Pretoria through medical assessments, testing, vaccinations and patient follow-up. The UN Volunteer assignment also supports counselling, records, medical movements and coordination with health and migration partners.

• Conduct nursing activities for migration health assessments, testing, vaccinations and referrals
• Explain health-assessment processes, treatments and referrals to migrants and refugees
• Maintain patient identification, clinical records and health-investigation registers
• Implement health-assessment protocols, infection prevention and patient-safety measures
• Maintain clinical supplies and support medical escorts and mobile missions

• Nursing qualification from an accredited institution or a diploma in Nursing that permits the full scope of duties
• Valid licence to practise as a nurse in South Africa
• At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience with a bachelor degree or 5 years with a diploma
• Clinical nursing experience and technical phlebotomy skills
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office

• Experience in tuberculosis management, immunisation, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health
• Clinical emergency-care specialisation
