Migration Health Nurse

Delivers clinical nursing services for migrants and refugees undergoing IOM health assessments, including examinations, specimen collection, vaccinations, tuberculosis care and pre-departure support. The nurse safeguards patient identification, records, counselling, referrals and continuity of care during medical movements.

Department: Migration Health Assessment Clinic

• Conduct migration health examinations and record vital signs, measurements and visual acuity
• Collect blood, urine and sputum specimens and coordinate imaging and laboratory testing
• Administer vaccinations and support tuberculosis treatment, referrals and pre-departure care
• Explain health assessment procedures, treatment and referral pathways to migrants and refugees
• Verify identities, collect biodata and maintain applicant health-investigation registers
• Apply clinic checklists, standard operating procedures and universal precautions
• Manage pharmacy stocks, medical kits and emergency supplies for clinic and escort use
• Provide tuberculosis and HIV counselling and deliver medical escorts when required

• Bachelor’s degree or qualifying diploma in nursing from an accredited institution
• Valid licence to practise nursing in Nigeria
• At least three years of relevant clinical experience with a bachelor’s degree, or five years with a nursing diploma
• Clinical nursing knowledge and experience
• Technical competence in phlebotomy
• Knowledge and experience in patient safety and infection prevention and control
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
• English as the primary working language of the posting

• Medical escort duties may require accompanying migrants through departure, travel and arrival
