International Researcher – Violence Against Women Human Rights Defenders and Journalists

Conducts a mixed-methods study of violence affecting women defenders and journalists in Georgia. The consultant develops secure surveys and interviews, analyzes online and offline harms, creates an anonymized dataset, and delivers recommendations for policy, prevention, protection and accountability.

• Design the study methodology, sampling, ethics and quality-assurance plan
• Develop and pilot a survey on online and offline violence
• Collect data from at least 100 respondents using secure systems
• Conduct focus groups and in-depth interviews
• Clean and analyze quantitative and qualitative data
• Produce an anonymized dataset, analytical report and policy recommendations

• Master’s degree in gender studies, development, public policy, social sciences, journalism or a related field, or a first degree with two additional years of experience
• Seven years of research experience in gender equality, violence, human rights, media freedom or related fields
• Seven years of quantitative or mixed-methods research experience
• Experience researching technology-facilitated gender-based violence or related harms
• Fluency in English

• Consultancy may require travel to Tbilisi
