Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities
- Manage the Press Office and direct its 12 staff members
- Ensure media products are timely, consistent, accurate and newsworthy
- Handle journalist queries, corrections and rebuttals within the news cycle
- Draft and review press conferences, statements, transcripts and digital updates
- Brief journalists and represent the Press and Media Section
- Organise press conferences, briefings, tours and media interviews
- Support NATO’s communications strategy and senior-leadership engagements
- Oversee the section budget and staff performance, mentoring and development
Role Requirements
- Nationality of a NATO member country
- University degree in a relevant field
- At least seven years of experience in a media or communications environment
- Experience managing or leading teams
- Excellent drafting, editing and communications skills and political judgement
- NATO language proficiency level VI in English or French and beginner level I in the other language
Desired Criteria
- Familiarity with the international press corps
- Familiarity with or experience in international organisations or the security and defence sector

Additional info
- Three-year definite-duration contract renewable for up to three additional years
- Occasional travel and work outside standard office hours may be required
- Appointment is subject to security clearance, medical approval and verification checks
