Communications Manager

Shapes internal and external communications for SHAPE’s Static Command Facilities transformation, developing strategy, campaigns and senior briefings, coordinating programme messaging with NATO and host-nation stakeholders, and monitoring engagement and media coverage throughout headquarters transition.

Department: Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE)

• Design and execute outreach and internal-communications strategy for the headquarters transformation programme
• Develop and maintain the SHAPE Static Command Facilities communication plan
• Assess communication performance and recommend corrective actions to senior managers
• Prepare strategic briefings on headquarters facilities and transition initiatives
• Implement an information campaign aligned with programme managers, NATO offices and host nations
• Coordinate dialogue with programme stakeholders and track communications interdependencies
• Maintain programme information on NATO channels and distribute controlled statements and messages
• Monitor open-source media coverage and advise programme leadership

• Two to four years of previous public-affairs experience as a communication specialist
• Experience developing communication strategies, plans and stakeholder-engagement initiatives
• Communication Manager course or similar training
• University degree in business administration, public administration or a related discipline with two years of related experience, or higher secondary education with advanced vocational training and four years of related experience
• English proficiency at NATO SLP 4343 and French proficiency at NATO SLP 2222
• Nationality of one of NATO’s 32 member states

• Definite-duration three-year contract linked to the New SHAPE Headquarters project
• Regular access to construction and hard-hat areas is required
• A certificate covering the highest required education level must accompany the application
