Gender Mainstreaming Expert

Provides technical assistance to embed gender, human-rights and do-no-harm approaches in the territorial implementation of Colombia’s drug policy. The assignment strengthens participation by women, LGBTIQ+ people and civil-society organisations in projects supporting licit economies, peacebuilding and territorial development.

Department: Peace, Justice and Crisis Response

• Integrate gender, human-rights, differential and do-no-harm approaches into project methods, plans and territorial activities
• Develop technical guidance that strengthens participation by women, LGBTIQ+ people and civil-society organisations throughout project selection and delivery
• Review terms of reference, methodologies, reports and tools for coherence with gender and human-rights standards
• Design and facilitate training, dialogue and capacity-building with public institutions and territorial organisations
• Identify gender-based violence risks, participation barriers and human-security alerts and propose practical mitigation measures
• Consolidate findings and lessons from territorial implementation into monitoring matrices, reports and recommendations
• Coordinate with public entities and social organisations on gender, women, peace, security and participation agendas

• University degree in government, international relations, political science, law, sociology, anthropology, social work, gender studies, public administration, social sciences or a related field
• At least eight years of professional experience in gender mainstreaming, human rights, civic participation, organisational strengthening, peacebuilding, advocacy, applied research or territorial processes
• Experience designing, implementing or monitoring gender-responsive, human-rights, participation or peacebuilding methods and strategies
• Knowledge of women, peace and security, feminist foreign policy, women's political participation and prevention of gender-based violence
• Spanish is required

• National UN Volunteer assignment based in Bogotá with recurrent field missions
• Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance: COP 8,515,500
• Extension depends on funding, operational need and satisfactory performance, but renewal is not currently foreseen
