Job Description

Supports the Caracas office's financial operations by entering accounting data, responding to finance queries and preparing payroll, payment, budget and reporting records. The assistant verifies authorisations and supporting documentation, maintains vendor and petty-cash controls, and helps staff with travel, expense claims and retrieval of financial documents.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Extract and enter financial and accounting data from source records
  • Respond to accounting, budget and financial-data queries from staff
  • Run validity checks for monthly payroll preparation
  • Review purchase-to-payment requests for authorisation and supporting documents
  • Create vendor accounts and verify vendor requests against IOM policies
  • Verify claims, receipts and journal vouchers for authorised goods and services
  • Prepare budget, accounting, financial and statistical reports
  • Maintain petty cash and systematically file payment documentation

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma with four years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience
  • Fluency in Spanish, oral and written

Desired Criteria

  • Previous experience with SAP
  • Prior work with international humanitarian, non-governmental or government organisations in a multicultural setting
