Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the activities of the OSESGY Aviation Unit
  • Ensure air operations comply with UN directives, aviation manuals, ICAO standards and host-country requirements
  • Review air mission requests and allocate suitable aircraft for safe and cost-efficient delivery
  • Coordinate daily air tasking orders, resolve priorities and communicate approved schedules
  • Manage passenger, cargo, resupply, evacuation, VIP and military operational flights
  • Direct aviation risk management, search and rescue coordination and safety follow-up
  • Develop aviation procedures, budget inputs and aircraft acquisition requirements
  • Supervise operational planning, performance reporting, audits, staff assignments and training

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in aviation management, air traffic management, aviation safety management, aerospace or aeronautical engineering, or graduation from an equivalent military establishment
  • A first university degree may substitute with relevant professional training, air-transport certification and two additional years of experience
  • Training and certification as a commercial pilot, flight operations officer, flight dispatcher, aerospace or aeronautical engineer, air traffic controller or equivalent military specialist
  • At least five years of progressively responsible air-transport operations or aviation-safety experience, including three years managing complex international air operations
  • Experience handling air operations in the Middle East
  • Experience in safety and quality management and use of ICAO standards and recommended practices
  • English at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening and speaking
