Overview

Supports the UN Women East and Southern Africa women’s economic empowerment portfolio through gender-economics research, programme implementation, communications and administration. The internship builds practical experience in regional work on climate-resilient livelihoods, the care economy, entrepreneurship and decent work.

Responsibilities

  • Review and conduct women’s economic empowerment research from a gender-economics perspective
  • Support programme management and implementation across the regional portfolio
  • Draft position papers, talking points and website articles
  • Develop social-media content for programme communications
  • Provide administrative support to the Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy Specialist

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a postgraduate degree, the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or a mandatory national-service programme in feminist or gender economics or a related field, or graduation from such a degree within two years
  • Excellent written and oral English
  • Demonstrable knowledge of feminist or gender economics
  • Knowledge of development issues in Africa, preferably East and Southern Africa
