Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the project’s environmental and social management system in line with World Bank standards
  • Integrate social standards and risk mitigation into programme planning, implementation and monitoring
  • Implement and review safeguards instruments, screening and subproject environmental and social documents
  • Train and monitor implementing partners and contractors on risk-management requirements
  • Plan stakeholder consultations and address social risks and concerns under the Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Monitor compliance, prepare reports and improve risk-mitigation systems based on evidence and feedback
  • Lead the grievance redress mechanism and analyze grievances for systemic risks
  • Build the environmental and social capacity of project staff, partners and contractors

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social science, anthropology, sociology, development studies, community development or a related discipline, or a bachelor’s degree plus two additional years of experience
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience with a master’s degree, or four years with a bachelor’s degree, in social risk management, sustainability or social development
  • Experience using computers, current Microsoft Office software and Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of environmental safeguards compliance
  • Fluent English
