Seed Health and Molecular Diagnostics Specialist

Provide specialist support to modernize Mauritius’s seed-health and biotechnology laboratory. The consultant assesses capacity, develops molecular diagnostic protocols, advises on equipment, trains and certifies national staff, and embeds sustainable seed-testing and knowledge-transfer systems.

Department: Seed Health and Biotechnology

• Assess seed-health laboratory capacity, infrastructure and technical needs
• Develop protocols for sampling, DNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis and disease detection
• Adapt laboratory protocols with the technical working group
• Advise on equipment specifications and procurement
• Train national staff and certify master trainers
• Mentor trainees and design a cascade plan for institutional knowledge transfer
• Integrate finalized protocols into laboratory operations
• Review outputs and submit sustainability recommendations

• Relevant advanced university degree, or bachelor's degree with two additional years of experience
• At least five years of relevant professional experience
• Working knowledge of English
