Overview

Research the historical establishment of UNRWA-recognized Palestine refugee camps for the Camp Origins Project. The associate will search digitized archives, assess source records, prepare materials for legal clearance and redaction, maintain search logs, and write cited camp profiles and comparative analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop archival search strategies using historical names and field designations
  • Retrieve and assess records concerning establishment of Palestine refugee camps
  • Maintain complete search logs and document research decisions
  • Prepare records for legal clearance and apply approved redactions
  • Draft evidence-based camp profiles and comparative historical synthesis

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in history, archival studies, library and information science, information management, Middle East studies, political science, social sciences or related field, or a first degree with two additional years
  • At least two years of primary-source or archival research experience, including at least one year of relevant international experience
  • Experience producing cited analytical or narrative outputs
  • Excellent written and spoken English
