Overview

Supports governments and UNICEF country offices across Eastern and Southern Africa to prepare, implement and quality-assure MICS and other household surveys, combining technical review, training and field support to produce reliable evidence on children and women.

Responsibilities

  • Support preparation and implementation of MICS and other household survey operations across the region
  • Provide remote and on-site technical assistance through each phase of survey implementation
  • Review survey documents and monitor compliance with MICS programme standards
  • Oversee survey activities, training and capacity strengthening with national counterparts
  • Quality-assure survey tabulations, assessments and report preparation

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, demography, statistics, epidemiology or another field with a significant measurement or analysis component
  • At least ten years of experience coordinating or managing quantitative household surveys such as MICS
  • Experience collaborating with national statistics offices in Eastern and Southern Africa
  • Experience training and strengthening national counterparts in MICS survey methodology
  • Experience with survey tabulations, quality assessments and survey report preparation
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability and willingness to travel across Eastern and Southern Africa
