Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead project management and financial monitoring for Japan-funded projects
- Oversee fund transfers, financial status and refunds to meet donor-compliance requirements
- Maintain the Japan-funded projects database and coordinate portfolio updates
- Review narrative and financial reports and extension requests for the Government of Japan
- Analyse portfolio trends and prepare briefings for senior management and donor engagement
- Monitor results frameworks, implementation progress, risks and field activities
- Develop strategic relationships with partners, government officials and implementing organisations
- Document lessons learned from projects and implementing partners
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree in international development, public administration, political science, sustainable business, environmental policy or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience with a master’s degree or 4 years with a bachelor’s degree in project management, sustainability strategy or management consulting for international development
- Experience managing multi-country donor portfolios with UN agencies and government stakeholders
- Experience in Japanese ODA, donor relations and high-level policy engagement
- Fund and portfolio-management experience
- Database management and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- Experience in capacity development and consortium or civil-society organisation management
- Experience coordinating private-sector engagement for development with Japanese companies
- Experience with UNDP systems, reporting processes and partnership management with Japanese entities
- Experience supporting international-development projects with the private sector
- Knowledge of Japan’s administrative and fiscal systems
- Experience in Sustainable Development Goal strategy, human rights and environmental due diligence or corporate sustainability programmes
