Programmatic Support and Technical Coordination for Research Reactor Safety Events

The intern will support research coordination, technical meetings and workshops on research reactor safety, analyse safety information and prepare reports and presentations that advance IAEA projects on experimental design, reactor assessment missions and the Code of Conduct.

Department: Research Reactor Safety Section

• Support the coordinated research project on experimental design for research reactor fuel and materials testing
• Review participant research proposals and help organise the research coordination meeting
• Prepare training materials and support a workshop for future safety-assessment mission reviewers
• Help organise the international meeting on the Research Reactor Safety Code of Conduct
• Collect and analyse data on research reactor safety issues and trends
• Prepare safety information reports, statistics and presentations

• University degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics
• Minimum age of 20 years
• Completion of at least three years of full-time university study towards a first degree
• Application within one year after completing a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree
• No previous participation in the IAEA internship programme
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Two signed letters of recommendation must accompany the application

• Internship duration is 12 months
• The internship supports the Research Reactor Safety Section at IAEA headquarters
