Summary of Responsibilities

  • Produce analytics using statistics, data mining and machine learning
  • Conduct analytical studies supporting operational decisions and hybrid-threat assessments
  • Prepare and structure operational data for processing and analysis
  • Coordinate data availability with NCIA data engineers
  • Develop data-collection, analysis and visualisation tools across NATO networks
  • Lead data collection, visualisation and assessment for campaign-assessment processes
  • Identify requirements for NATO data-exploitation and future AI capabilities
  • Capture data-science lessons and improve headquarters processes

Role Requirements

  • University degree in information technology, economics, statistics, operations research or a related discipline with two years of related experience, or higher secondary education with advanced vocational qualification and four years of related experience
  • At least four years of post-related data-science or analytics experience
  • Experience across the data-science lifecycle and with structured and unstructured datasets
  • Programming experience with Python and relevant data, visualisation and machine-learning libraries
  • English proficiency at NATO SLP 3333
  • Eligibility for NATO security clearance and medical approval
  • Nationality of a NATO member country

Desired Criteria

  • Experience briefing analytical products to senior military or civilian staff
  • Experience with AI or machine-learning tools such as Watson, Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit or TensorFlow
  • Practical experience with Hadoop, Spark or MapReduce
  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline
  • Knowledge of joint or combined operations
  • Recognition by a relevant professional body
