Data Specialist

Develops data systems and analytics for the UN Resident Coordinator Office in South Sudan, translating requirements into technical solutions, improving data quality and flows, producing dashboards and data products, and building staff capability for evidence-based planning.

Department: UN Resident Coordinator Office, South Sudan

• Develop databases, data-collection systems and analytics workflows
• Analyse structured and unstructured data to identify trends and patterns
• Build reports, dashboards and visualisations for management decision-making
• Establish quality-control and documentation standards for data products
• Collaborate with data engineers, scientists and data owners to improve data flows
• Produce reports, newsletters and other analytical products
• Train personnel in data analytics methods and tools

• Advanced university degree in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, information management, information systems, economic or social sciences, or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
• Demonstrated data storytelling and visualisation skills using Tableau, Power BI, Qlik or R
• Ability to perform quality assurance of analytical outputs
• Required UN Level II proficiency in English
• Applicants must be nationals of South Sudan

• Fixed-term appointment for one year with no expectation of renewal
• Applicants residing abroad are responsible for travel and relocation costs if selected
