Job Description

Supports Syrian transitional-justice authorities to establish secure, scalable evidence-management systems and workflows. The role protects forensic integrity and chain of custody, structures complex evidence datasets, develops eDiscovery processes and metadata, and delivers training for accountability partners.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Advise transitional-justice authorities on secure, scalable evidence-management infrastructure aligned with international standards
  • Design processes and tools for evidence collection, ingestion, processing, preservation and analysis while protecting forensic integrity and chain of custody
  • Structure and normalise complex digital and physical evidence datasets for retrieval, analysis and factual and legal review
  • Develop data models, taxonomies and metadata schemas for evidence-based analysis and confidential classifications
  • Enable interoperable information sharing while complying with data-protection, security and confidentiality requirements
  • Design and deliver training, workshops, policies, procedures and guidance on evidence handling, eDiscovery and analytical workflows
  • Manage evidence registration, digitisation, secure storage, indexing, review procedures and data-ingestion workflows
  • Develop eDiscovery specifications for data harvesting, processing and transfer, administer tools and support procurement and system design

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in information science, information systems, computer science, archival studies, law, social science or a related field, or first-level degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible information-management or related experience
  • Experience analysing information with specialised eDiscovery and data-analysis software platforms
  • English at UN Level II and Arabic at UN Level III across reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • Impeccable record of integrity and professional ethical standards

Desired Criteria

  • Certification in eDiscovery
  • Project-management certification
  • Data modelling and advanced information-retrieval experience
  • Database management and programming-language experience
  • Experience analysing large multilingual structured datasets
  • Experience with criminal investigations or international criminal or human-rights accountability mechanisms
