Human Rights Officer and Investigator – Two Positions

Investigates alleged human-rights and international-criminal-law violations in Belarus, gathering and corroborating testimony and documentary evidence, using open-source and geospatial methods, identifying alleged perpetrators, protecting witnesses and drafting gender-sensitive analytical findings.

Department: Group of Independent Experts on Belarus

• Research and analyse information concerning human-rights and criminal-law violations
• Interview victims and witnesses and corroborate allegations using multiple sources
• Use open-source, mapping and satellite material to geolocate and authenticate incidents
• Identify alleged perpetrators under agreed investigative methods
• Organise investigative missions and apply protection measures for cooperating witnesses
• Securely preserve investigation information and documentation
• Prepare gender analysis and draft sections for mandate reports

• Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social science or a related field, or the stated first-degree alternative with qualifying experience
• At least five years of progressively responsible human-rights experience
• At least two years investigating violations of international human-rights law or international criminal law
• English at UN Level III
