The Head of Office will position UN Women as Timor-Leste’s leading gender-equality partner, direct the country portfolio and resources, lead a 15-person team, shape national policy and UN coordination, represent the organisation and build partnerships, funding and institutional knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Set strategic priorities and translate UN Women’s plans into country programmes and results
  • Manage country workplans, budgets, monitoring, reporting, audits and security compliance
  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, performance management and office resources
  • Represent UN Women in the UN Country Team and integrate gender equality into joint programming
  • Influence national policy, legislation, planning and budgeting through senior-level advocacy
  • Build partnerships with government, donors, civil society, academia, media and the private sector
  • Lead resource mobilisation, donor coordination and knowledge-management strategy
  • Direct a team of 15 personnel and provide matrix leadership across functions

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, human rights, gender or women’s studies, international development or a related field, or a first degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible experience designing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating development projects
  • Experience establishing relationships between international organisations and national governments
  • Fluency in English
