Head of Office

Leads the Mali Country Office during a transition period, directing strategy, programmes, operations, personnel and risk management. The role develops the 2027–2031 Strategic Note, represents UN Women in country coordination and sustains government, donor and UN partnerships.

Department: Mali Country Office

• Lead the participatory development and corporate clearance of the Mali Country Strategic Note 2027–2031
• Direct Country Office programmes, operations, duty of care, annual planning and budgets
• Monitor financial, operational, safeguarding and programme risks and close audit actions
• Manage and develop a multicultural team of up to 26 personnel
• Represent UN Women in the UN Country Team and gender coordination mechanisms
• Maintain government, donor and partner relationships and ensure timely donor reporting
• Oversee security compliance, crisis readiness and personnel wellbeing

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a development-related discipline, economics, public policy or another social science, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least seven years of progressively responsible national and international strategic and managerial leadership in development cooperation
• International-level experience in gender and women’s issues programming, preferably within the United Nations system
• Field-based experience leading and coaching multicultural teams
• Experience leading or contributing to a Strategic Note, UNSDCF or comparable planning document
• Fluency in French and English

• The role leads the Country Office on an interim basis under the West and Central Africa Regional Director
