Supports UNESCO Sudan security operations by maintaining security plans, monitoring risk-management measures, liaising with UNDSS and local security actors, and assisting field missions, incident reporting and emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with UNDSS, UN agencies and local government security organisations
  • Maintain the office security plan, staff lists and confidential security correspondence
  • Monitor implementation of security risk management measures at the duty station
  • Assess the security situation and provide updates to the Head of Office and field security colleagues
  • Advise on security measures for UNESCO offices and staff residences
  • Organise security awareness and preparedness training
  • Support field missions, office access control and emergency response actions
  • Maintain incident databases and complete security and safety reports

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least four years of progressively responsible security experience, ideally within the military, police or a related field
  • Fluency in Arabic and English
  • Knowledge of VHF radio operation
  • Solid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Possession of a valid driving licence and ability to drive a 4x4 vehicle
  • Ability to travel within the area of responsibility
  • Physical fitness for security duties
