Overview

Provides field epidemiology and operational coordination for Bundibugyo virus readiness and other public-health emergencies in South Sudan. The volunteer investigates alerts, analyses surveillance data, strengthens county response systems, coordinates multidisciplinary support and guides preparedness across operational hubs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate county or hub incident-management operations and action tracking
  • Strengthen indicator, event, community and point-of-entry surveillance
  • Verify and investigate alerts, suspected cases, clusters and unusual deaths
  • Analyse epidemiological data and maintain curves, maps, dashboards and line lists
  • Validate BVD readiness for isolation, referral, contact tracing and logistics
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary response to other outbreaks and humanitarian emergencies
  • Prepare situation reports and monitor response performance indicators
  • Train and mentor surveillance teams, health workers and community informants

Requirements

  • Education in medicine, public health, epidemiology, nursing, environmental health or another relevant health discipline
  • At least three years of relevant experience in surveillance, epidemiology, outbreak investigation, emergency response or communicable-disease control
  • Ability to work in difficult field conditions and travel to remote or insecure locations when cleared
  • Required English
