Overview

Builds emergency preparedness and response capacity across Latin America and the Caribbean, advising UNICEF country offices on shock-responsive systems, early warning, anticipatory action, risk analysis and coordination so children and communities receive timely, resilient humanitarian support.

Responsibilities

  • Advise country offices on shock-responsive systems and emergency preparedness
  • Strengthen early warning, anticipatory action and contingency planning
  • Support vulnerability analysis, rapid assessments and emergency response
  • Build country-office and partner capacity for humanitarian readiness
  • Coordinate with regional authorities, CDEMA, private sector and humanitarian partners
  • Develop knowledge products and advocacy for child-centred preparedness
  • Build partnerships and mobilise resources for regional emergency action
  • Support inter-agency and national humanitarian coordination mechanisms

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Emergency Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Humanitarian Affairs, International Development, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration or a related field relevant to emergency response
  • Five years of progressively responsible humanitarian experience focused on emergency preparedness and response, disaster risk reduction, shock-responsive systems, contingency planning and coordination
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
