Programme Officer for Research and Medical Countermeasures

Coordinates research and medical-countermeasure readiness for Bundibugyo virus disease across Africa from Nairobi. The volunteer develops regional agendas, protocols and guidance; supports vaccine and clinical-research preparedness; analyses evidence; maintains readiness trackers; convenes partners; and supports outbreaks.

• Coordinate a regional research agenda for Bundibugyo virus disease
• Develop guidance, protocols and training for vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics
• Support vaccine preparedness, deployment monitoring and effectiveness studies
• Strengthen clinical-research readiness and ethics and regulatory coordination
• Maintain research trackers, dashboards and technical databases
• Review epidemiological evidence and translate findings into policy guidance
• Convene technical working groups, workshops and research partnerships
• Prepare workplans, grant inputs, performance indicators and technical reports

• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, public health, medicine, health sciences, epidemiology or a related field
• At least two years of experience in public health, epidemiology, surveillance, outbreak response, vaccines, clinical research or health emergencies
• Experience in humanitarian, fragile or resource-constrained settings and field outbreak response
• Required English

• International UN Volunteer assignment lasting 12 months
• Role may support active outbreak response across the WHO African Region
