Internship - Health Emergencies

The intern supports WHO's Medical Countermeasures Unit with literature reviews, data analysis, meeting materials and project work on equitable access to vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics during health emergencies.

Department: Epidemic and Pandemic Management, Medical Countermeasures Unit

• Conduct literature reviews and mappings on novel medical countermeasure products and technologies
• Collect, collate and analyse data and documents for manuscripts on medical countermeasures
• Draft, format and edit policy briefs, toolkits, guides, hand-outs, brochures and reports
• Assist in organising workshops, meetings, conferences and events for medical countermeasure portfolios
• Participate in unit projects on vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics
• Prepare background documents for meetings

• Completed at least three years of full-time undergraduate studies at a university or equivalent institution before commencing the assignment
• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a formal qualification in medicine, biology, bioinformatics, microbiology, virology, biochemistry, medical sciences, information sciences, statistics, public health or a related field
• Expert knowledge of English is required

• Internship duration is 24 weeks from 5 October 2026 to 19 March 2027
• WHO interns receive a living allowance but no salary
• Geneva interns receive lunch vouchers of 20 CHF per working day
• WHO provides accident and medical insurance coverage for interns
