Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction for earthquake preparedness, response and recovery
  • Lead and supervise multidisciplinary emergency teams under demanding conditions
  • Provide technical leadership across UNICEF programme sectors
  • Represent UNICEF with government, the United Nations Country Team and humanitarian coordination bodies
  • Guide emergency projects and ensure coherent delivery for affected children and families

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social science, public administration, international law, international relations, social planning, emergency or rehabilitation programming, or a related field
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in emergency or rehabilitation programmes
  • Demonstrated people-supervision experience
  • Emergency cluster or extensive inter-agency coordination experience
  • Experience working in politically sensitive environments
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
