Job Description
The Electromechanical Technician keeps CERN's cryogenic installations reliable by designing low-voltage cabinets, supervising fabrication and commissioning, supporting operations and urgent fault response, planning preventive and corrective maintenance, and selecting, testing and calibrating industrial instrumentation.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Design and dimension low-voltage electrical cabinets for cryogenic systems and produce detailed drawings
- Select electrical components and verify compliance with electrical safety requirements
- Supervise fabrication, installation and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems
- Evaluate cost estimates, order components and support related procurement
- Provide daily operational support and diagnose and resolve urgent electrical and instrumentation faults
- Plan preventive and corrective maintenance priorities and maintain technical procedures and documentation
- Select and implement industrial instrumentation and perform equipment testing and calibration
- Participate in the regular stand-by duty service and report interventions to the operations team
Role Requirements
- Technical certificate, general secondary education or equivalent relevant experience in Industrial Electrotechnics, Electrical and Instrumentation Technology, Electromechanics or a related field
- Experience designing low-voltage electrical systems and cabinets, including architecture, cable and protection sizing, device selection and wiring diagrams
- Experience manufacturing, wiring, testing, installing and commissioning electrical equipment
- Experience diagnosing electrical or instrumentation faults and maintaining operational systems
- Spoken and written English or French, with commitment to learn the other language
- Valid driving licence
- Nationality of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State, subject to the published nationality ceilings
- Eligibility for a CERN staff contract, including no previous CERN staff contract

- The role is fully onsite and involves radiation areas, underground installations and possible exposure to electromagnetic fields
