Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and guide GPA's communications and advocacy strategy
  • Create audience-specific narratives, briefs, speeches, campaigns and digital content
  • Translate technical and field evidence into persuasive messages for priority audiences
  • Coordinate partner advocacy around policy moments, launches and events
  • Build GPA visibility through media, thought leadership and strategic engagement
  • Strengthen relationships with communications counterparts across partner sectors
  • Improve digital presence, brand consistency and editorial quality
  • Track communications performance and use insights to improve impact

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in energy, environment, international development, humanitarian studies, international relations, public policy or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with two additional years of experience
  • At least seven years of advocacy and communications experience, including three years at senior management level
  • At least five years of strategic advocacy or communications experience focused on energy, environment, climate or sustainability
  • Documented high-level advocacy or engagement experience with national and energy-sector leaders
  • Experience working in challenging and politically complex situations
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in a developing or displacement-affected country, including Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya or wider Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed staff
  • Experience with sustainable energy in humanitarian contexts and multi-stakeholder partnerships
  • Fluency in French
