The officer will deliver communication and prevention activities for an ICRC field operation, build acceptance among authorities, communities and media, monitor political and humanitarian developments, support stakeholder networks and strengthen colleagues’ communication capacity.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to communication and prevention objectives, strategies and plans for the field operation
- Implement operational communication, community engagement, public affairs and digital communication activities
- Promote international humanitarian law and strengthen National Society communication capacity
- Represent the ICRC to authorities, communities, media and other external audiences
- Monitor political, security, military and humanitarian developments affecting ICRC access and reputation
- Interpret and translate local-language material when communication programmes require it
- Deliver communication training and coaching to field staff
- Provide technical and administrative support for events, files and communication stocks
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent in communications, political science, international relations, journalism or a relevant field
- At least three years of experience in communication or prevention work
- Fluent spoken and written English and local language proficiency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
