Chief of Section, Investigations

OIOS seeks a temporary Chief of Investigations Section to lead operational standards, intake and referral methods, reporting, investigative data and case-management governance, ensuring due process, evidence quality, institutional learning and consistent professional practice across the division.

Department: Operational Standards and Support Section, Investigations Division

• Lead section resources, workplans and professional development
• Harmonise intake, referral and investigative methods across the division
• Ensure due process, confidentiality, evidence integrity and timely case handling
• Oversee official communications, analytical reports and reporting to oversight bodies
• Govern investigative data, dashboards, case-management architecture and quality frameworks
• Represent the division in senior interdepartmental and inter-agency forums
• Direct knowledge-management systems, institutional learning and capacity building

• Advanced university degree in law or a field related to investigations, or a first university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible investigatory experience
• Knowledge of United Nations legal, regulatory, accountability and internal-justice frameworks
• Experience managing high-volume sensitive intake and referral operations
• Experience supervising staff, delegating work and managing performance
• English at UN Level III

• This temporary appointment is funded through 31 December 2026 with possible extension
• Eligibility may be limited to candidates based at the New York duty station
