Access and Engagement Consultant

Supports UN Women’s engagement with Afghanistan’s de facto authorities by preparing meetings, providing interpretation, documenting gender-related access constraints and mapping partner agreements, enabling programme teams and field offices to navigate humanitarian access across the country.

Department: Coordination, Access and Humanitarian Response Unit

• Prepare talking points and other support for engagement with de facto authorities
• Attend engagement meetings and provide interpretation for management, programme teams and field offices
• Document gender-related constraints affecting programme access and implementation
• Consult programme units, field offices and partners to collect access information
• Map partner engagement with line ministries and memorandums of understanding
• Prepare meeting minutes and update monthly access-constraint mappings

• Master’s degree in gender, international relations, international development, international law or another social-science field, or a bachelor’s degree in a similar field with two additional years of experience
• At least one year of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian access and engagement
• Experience building partnerships with de facto authorities, governments, donors and civil-society organisations nationally and in the field
• Working knowledge of English
• Fluency in Dari and Pashto

• Office-based national consultancy in Kabul
• Field travel may be required in response to humanitarian developments
• The assignment supports UN Women units and field offices across Afghanistan
