Collects accurate migration and mobility data in Kazakhstan through confidential interviews, observations and field reporting, coordinating daily survey plans, preparing equipment and uploading complete records to support IOM’s regional evidence and policy programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct face-to-face interviews with migrants and follow up on incomplete responses
  • Record field observations and obtain written consent before taking photographs
  • Develop a migrant story and submit a narrative report after data collection
  • Protect respondent privacy, informed consent and data confidentiality
  • Prepare fieldwork plans, transport costs, equipment and daily target areas
  • Coordinate daily activities with field supervisors and community focal points
  • Check the accuracy and completeness of collected survey data
  • Upload completed survey forms to KOBO for the data-management team

Requirements

  • Background in sociology, economics, information technology or a related field
  • Knowledge of migration and development concepts
  • Good spoken and written Russian and Kazakh
  • Ability to work respectfully with community members and authorities in challenging field settings
  • Security awareness and familiarity with KOBO or ODK
