Regional Head, Nature Finance and Strategic Investments

Leads IUCN’s regional nature-finance strategy, structuring investment-ready pipelines and blended-finance partnerships that advance biodiversity and climate goals. The role guides programmes, teams and partners while shaping policy, investor engagement and market development.

Department: ESARO Office of the Regional Director

• Develop and implement ESARO’s regional nature-investment strategy
• Lead engagement with multilateral, development-bank and private capital providers
• Structure standards-based investment pipelines, blended-finance mechanisms and risk frameworks
• Develop business cases and investor proposals for nature-positive investments
• Oversee feasibility assessments, programme risks, results and learning
• Build partnerships with governments, investors, donors and implementing organisations
• Lead the nature-finance unit, budgets, workplans, staff and consultants
• Shape policy influence, thought leadership and regional investment forums

• Master’s degree in development studies, business administration, resource economics, environmental policy, agriculture, natural resources management or a relevant discipline
• At least ten years of experience developing, managing and implementing multi-stakeholder projects, including work in Eastern and Southern Africa
• Professional experience in development finance, project finance, debt or equity capital markets, or impact investing
• Experience with economic, investment and financial analysis
• Experience in nature, biodiversity or climate-related financing
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively within and beyond the region

• Fixed-term appointment for up to 24 months
