National Consultant on Clinical Complications of Female Genital Mutilation During Labour and Delivery

Leads a multi-site clinical study of female genital mutilation complications during labour and delivery in Liberia, quantifying obstetric risks across referral hospitals and turning evidence into clinical protocols, geographic burden analysis and legislative recommendations for eradication advocacy.

• Develop the study protocol, methodology and data-collection tools
• Train and supervise data collection across six referral hospitals
• Quantify obstetric complications among women with a history of FGM
• Analyse complications by FGM type and stage of labour
• Map the geographic distribution of FGM-related delivery complications
• Facilitate validation of study findings with health stakeholders
• Produce inception, monitoring, data-collection and final study reports

• Qualification as a nurse, midwife, medical doctor or other health professional
• Five to ten years of clinical practice
• Experience conducting research in a similar context
• Fluency in English

• Consultancy duration: 150 days
• Field travel required to selected referral hospitals
