Media and Communications Officer

Leads communications and visibility work for IOM’s North Pacific office from Pohnpei. The officer develops strategy and project plans, produces multimedia and public-information content, manages web and social channels, supports emergency messaging and trains staff on consent, data protection and branding standards.

Department: Programme Support Unit, North Pacific Coordination Office

• Implement and develop the North Pacific communications strategy
• Help project managers create communications and visibility plans
• Draft press releases, briefing notes, talking points and public-information materials
• Produce and edit website, social-media, newsletter and media content
• Monitor communications performance through IOM publication and web platforms
• Train staff on informed consent, data protection and donor-visibility standards
• Coordinate crisis communications and media lines on emerging issues
• Develop branded presentations, factsheets, videos and outreach materials

• Master’s degree in journalism, media communications, public information, international relations or a related field with two years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in those fields with four years of relevant experience
• Experience in digital content creation including photography, videography, graphic design and editing
• Experience in international journalism including coverage of international organizations
• Excellent drafting, editing, graphic-design and video-production skills
• Demonstrated photojournalism skills
• Fluency in English

• Special short-term graded appointment of up to nine months
• Internationally recruited professional staff are subject to mobility requirements
