Lead Economist

Provides intellectual leadership for World Bank economic and policy engagement in the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei, directing macro-fiscal analysis, senior government dialogue, lending quality assurance, country strategy, technical assistance, team performance and public dissemination of policy research.

Department: Fiscal Policy and Growth Global Practice

• Lead flagship economic diagnostics and macro-fiscal analysis
• Advise senior government counterparts on fiscal and growth reforms
• Translate research into actionable policy recommendations
• Provide economic quality assurance for lending operations
• Shape country partnership and diagnostic strategies
• Lead and mentor economists and researchers
• Publish and present research to policy and public audiences

• Evidence of senior-level expertise in macroeconomics, fiscal policy, growth and structural reform
• Ability to lead rigorous quantitative and qualitative economic analysis
• Ability to advise senior government, central-bank and planning counterparts
• Ability to lead economists and assure the quality of lending and analytical work
• Professional English proficiency appropriate to the posting and duty station
