Responsibilities

  • Prepare experimental aquaria and radiolabelled matrices for radioecology studies
  • Maintain healthy stocks of phytoplankton, fish, mussels and other marine organisms
  • Analyse live organisms and marine biological samples under established procedures
  • Participate in coastal and ship-based sampling missions
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, seawater systems and experimental facilities
  • Manage radioactive-source inventories, waste and safety records
  • Document experimental work and analytical results
  • Guide fellows and trainees in marine radiotracer techniques

Requirements

  • Completed secondary education
  • At least four years of marine-biology or radioecology laboratory experience
  • Aquariology or aquatic-research laboratory experience
  • Working knowledge of aquatic animal husbandry and life-support systems
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Medical clearance for occupational exposure to radioactive material
