Consultant – Plant Breeding and Genetics

Provides technical expertise to the Plant Breeding and Genetics subprogramme on mutation breeding, crop improvement, project delivery, partnerships and scientific communication.

Department: Plant Breeding and Genetics Section

• Develop strategic public and private partnerships for plant breeding, plant health and Atoms4Food work
• Prepare concept notes and technical proposals focused on plant breeding and plant health
• Advise on mutation breeding, biotechnologies and climate-resilient crop improvement projects
• Support project design, implementation and evaluation using results-based management principles
• Support visibility, outreach and strategic positioning activities for the subprogramme
• Review reports, project documents, scientific publications and knowledge products
• Support organization of scientific meetings and liaise with partners and service providers

• Advanced degree in biological or agricultural sciences
• Specialization in plant breeding, crop improvement, crop science, plant health or a related field
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in project management, climate-resilient agriculture, resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, technical events or programme design and implementation
• Excellent oral and written command of English

• Contract type is Special Service Agreement
• Daily fee is up to EUR 250 based on qualifications and experience
• Duty travel may include daily subsistence allowance and travel costs
• Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent
