ICT Officer - Geospatial Data Engineer

Provides geospatial data engineering and management services for UN field missions, supporting data integration, quality control, governance, dashboards and operational geospatial products.

Department: Geospatial, Information and Telecommunication Technologies Service

• Develop geospatial data management services for UN peacekeeping, political and humanitarian operations
• Manage collection, validation, transformation and maintenance of vector, raster, imagery and operational datasets
• Support enterprise geospatial data models, metadata, standards and governance frameworks
• Build and optimise ETL and ELT workflows for geospatial data processing and publication
• Integrate satellite imagery, UAV data, IoT feeds and open-source data into geospatial systems
• Maintain geospatial repositories, catalogues and data products for operational readiness
• Monitor data pipelines and enforce quality control, validation and standardisation procedures

• Advanced university degree in computer science, data engineering, engineering, information systems, GIS or a closely related field, or bachelor degree with two years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in Python scripting for geospatial data management, processing and workflow automation
• Experience in data engineering, data pipelines and data platform management, including modern data architecture
• Experience designing and maintaining end-to-end ETL or ELT pipelines and data lake, warehouse or lakehouse architecture
• Proficiency in Python, SQL and data processing frameworks such as Spark
• Professional knowledge of ArcGIS or comparable GIS software
• Fluent English
